The Science

Mustard Seed

Mustard seed oil has been used in traditional skincare for its warming and stimulating properties. It can improve blood circulation in the skin, support oxygen delivery, and provide natural antioxidants. These effects may help the skin look healthier, feel softer, and recover more quickly. In some treatments, mustard seed oil is used to prepare or condition the skin, creating a better environment for healing and regeneration.

Effectiveness

AKOYA helps your body keep the transferred fat healthy after a lipofilling procedure. By boosting blood flow, it increases the chance that the fat will survive, leading to better results and reducing the need for additional surgeries.

This Laser Doppler Imaging (LDI) scan shows how effectively AKOYA supports healthier blood flow in the skin (forearm). AKOYA was applied to the skin above the dotted line. In this area, the blood flow is visibly higher compared to the skin below the line where Akoya was not applied. This increase in blood flow improves oxygen supply and gently widens the blood vessels in the skin and the fat layer underneath, helping the tissue stay healthier.

All-natural ingredients

AKOYA was developed to improve the results after a lipofilling procedure and to reduce the risk of cyst formation. The goal was to create a product with natural ingredients, without the use of medication that may cause side effects. After lipofilling, aftercare is often underestimated, even though it plays a crucial role in achieving the best results. With this in mind, AKOYA was created after many years of careful research.

After lipofilling, good blood supply is key for the best results. AKOYA boosts oxygen and circulation, helping new blood vessels form faster so the transplanted fat can heal and last longer.

What we recommend for the best results

Before surgery

Start using AKOYA one week before your surgery, applying it twice a day. Gently massage the cream into your skin until you feel a pleasant warmth.

After Surgery

Begin applying AKOYA the evening after your surgery. Use it at least twice a day, or even three times if possible, for at least three weeks. This healing period is very important, as it helps the transplanted fat connect with your blood supply and heal properly.

 Benefits

A gentle massage will not harm the transplanted fat. AKOYA helps boost blood flow by widening the blood vessels and reducing postoperative swelling.

Long-term

You can keep using AKOYA after your surgery as part of your daily skincare routine. It helps improve blood flow in the deeper skin layers, leaving your skin healthier and more radiant over time.

How does transplanted fat survive?

1

Immediate after surgery

After the procedure, fat cells initially struggle to survive because they have no blood supply and receive no oxygen. In the first days, they can stay alive through a process called plasmatic imbibition, where they absorb nutrients and fluids from the surrounding tissue. However, this is only temporary — without new blood vessels growing in, the fat cells are at risk of dying.

2

Restoring the blood supply

Fat cells that lack oxygen send signals to the surrounding tissue, especially to nearby blood vessels. In response, tiny new blood vessels, called capillaries, start to grow toward the fat cells. These young vessels bring oxygen and nutrients, and once they reach the transplanted fat, they create a lasting blood supply that helps the cells survive.

3

Long-lasting

Fat cells that are successfully revascularized will survive and function like normal fat cells in the long term. They do not disappear but react naturally to weight changes: when you lose weight, they shrink, and when you gain weight, they grow.
